Landmark Energy Project in Egypt

Global Deals. Tech Expertise.

While ancient Egypt captivates with its wonders, the Egypt of today is vigorously pursuing advanced technological developments, emphasizing clean and sustainable energy. A major leap in this direction occurred in 2015 when the governments of Russia and Egypt entered into an intergovernmental agreement to establish a four-unit nuclear power plant on the Mediterranean coast. Overseen under the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant is expected to generate almost 5GW of safe and efficient power, propelling Egypt into a new era of energy independence and sustainability.

Understanding the strategic importance and complexities of such an ambitious project, Andrei Danilov was engaged to provide specialized legal expertise. In 2016, the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contract was signed between Rosatom’s engineering division and Egypt’s designated operator to give effect to the earlier signed IGA. Mr. Danilov’s role became essential as he advised on crucial aspects of this monumental EPC-contract. His work included drafting and negotiating several amendment agreements, an endeavor that required meticulous attention to technical, regulatory, and commercial details. These amendments were successfully negotiated in principle during pivotal sessions in Cairo, early October 2024.

Via Mr. Danilov, Danilov & Partners is proud to have contributed to this transformative energy project. The firm brings over a decade of experience in navigating the intricacies of large-scale industrial projects, advising clients across various industries. Prior to establishing Danilov & Partners, Mr. Danilov acquired a wealth of experience at premier international law firms, practicing across key global financial centers, including Moscow, London, Frankfurt, and New York.

Through this case, Danilov & Partners underscores its commitment to excellence and its unparalleled capacity to handle complex infrastructure and energy projects on a global scale.
