Navigating Global Dispute Resolution: Insights from the Singapore Ministry of Law Roundtable

On 16 May 2025, our firm had the privilege of participating in a high-level roundtable session hosted by the Singapore Ministry of Law at The Carlton, Moscow. Organized by Deputy Secretary Ms. Charlene Chang, the event fostered candid and insightful discussions on Singapore’s role as a neutral venue for international arbitration and mediation.

The session brought together distinguished legal minds, including Ms. Yen Swee Koh, Senior Counsel at Wong Partnership; Mr. Vladimir Khvalei, Senior Partner at MANSORS; Mr. George Lim, Chairman of the Singapore International Mediation Centre; and Mr. Yee Leong Chong, Partner at Allen & Gledhill, alongside representatives from the Embassy of Singapore, Mr. Nicholas Lee and Mr. Arjun Vadrevu. In a conversation with Ms. Charlene Chang after the discussion, our Managing Partner, Andrei Danilov, noted that Singapore’s proactive engagement in Moscow marks a significant step toward resuming closer cooperation.

The discussion delved into the practical advantages and challenges of leveraging Singapore as an arbitration hub. Participants explored how Singapore’s robust legal framework, neutrality, and strategic positioning can serve global businesses navigating complex disputes. The open exchange of perspectives underscored Singapore’s growing influence in shaping the future of international dispute resolution.

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this dialogue and remain committed to advising clients on effective dispute resolution strategies, with Singapore as a neutral venue for mediation and arbitration. This roundtable reaffirmed Singapore’s pivotal role in global dispute resolution, and we look forward to further collaborations that advance legal excellence and cross-border cooperation.
